Daniel before the Lion's Den 3 | Jan 29, 17 |
Da 2:20-23; 46-49. Dan blooms where he is planted, doing the best he can w/what God has given him. The king desires to reward D; and in humility & grace, D desires to reward his friends who prayed w/him. His honesty, loyalty & selflessness land D in the highest court—where the pressure will be greatest. If you are a spiritual warrior where do you want to be? In the thick of the battle! We should not be thinking of ourselves & our safety, but how we can serve more effectively where God has placed us. Taking no credit for himself, D crafts a prayer of thanksgiving to God, before going to Neb w/the dream. |
Daniel before the Lion's Den 2 | Jan 22, 17 |
Ps 91; Da 2:19, 24-30. God has a plan for your life—are you preparing & positioning yourself daily, w/o setting parameters, so that He can work thru you? Even when given the opportunity before the king, Daniel does not promote himself; but sees himself as a humble tool of God, crediting Him as the One who will reveal the dream. The plan that God has for Daniel's life is not for his glory, but for God's—He is the Hero of the story. |
Daniel before the Lion's Den 1 | Jan 15, 17 |
1 Co 10:11; Da 2:1-19. Daniel's Dilemma. D faces threat of execution if he is unable to tell King Neb his dream & interpret it. Rather than panicking or seeking self-preservation, Daniel takes the spiritual approach and chooses to serve the Lord, rather than self. Unable to handle the crisis in the power of the flesh, he and his friends pray, relying on the Lord to help. God answers his prayer and b/c he trusted Him in faithful obedience, God vaults Daniel to the top. There are many opportunities that we have and many blessings that we could have, if we simply said, "I'll give it a try." |

Repentance and Sorrow 2 | Jan 18, 17 |
Gk. lupeo- to grieve; metamelomai- to regret; metanoai- a change of mind (trans. "repentance"). Regret & repentance are not synonymous in NT Gk.; regret includes emotion, repent does not. Emotions may or may not accompany repentance. Whether in salvation or confession of sins, feeling sorry is not a requisite; it is Christ's work on the cross that has the merit. In the NT, repentance is sometimes used for change of mind and other times as a synonym for believing. Repentance is not necessary for faith in Christ. Dt 30:2; Mt 3:2; 11:20; Lk 17:3; Ac 2:38; 8:22; 2 Co 7:8f. |
Repentance and Sorrow 1 | Jan 4, 17 |
2 Co 7:1-12. Background to Paul's 3 visits & 4 letters to the Corinthians, including a painful visit and subsequent letter of strong rebuke—a letter which initially caused distress for these believers, but led to correction. Emotion has no merit for either justification or spiritual growth. "Godly sorrow" means to sorrow according to God's will or intent. This produces a change of mind (repentance) which is based upon the mental understanding of the character of God, and in turn leads to spiritual advance. |

As long as the Lord is preserving our lives, He is going to give us opportunities to serve. We can have an impact even in our infirmities or incapacities. Spiritual maturity and our greatest effectiveness is often not reached until older age. Biblical examples of exceptional effectiveness in older age: Abraham & Sarah, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Miriam, Joshua, Caleb, David, and Daniel. God has numbered our days—Jo 14:5; Ps 139:16. |

History of Thanksgiving Day. Bridging Questions are designed to build movement from an individual's false beliefs to correct beliefs. Presenting objective and subjective evidences. The goal is to find common ground and remove obstacles so we can present the Gospel and a positive case for Christ. |
Witnessing and Evangelism 10 | Nov 13, 16 |
Veteran's Day remembered. Oath of Office Link; 2 Pet 3:1-9; arguing against uniformitarianism. Uncovering Questions: determining why the individual has barriers or objections to moving towards Christ. Differentiating between intellectual, emotional, and volitional reasons for doubting. Seven steps to uncovering hidden barriers. |
Witnessing and Evangelism 9 | Nov 6, 16 |
Ps 20:1-9. George Washingtonan example for presidents to follow. Illuminating Questions. The goal is to clarify what the individual believes and how they define terms; it is not to prove the other person wrong, but to minimize defensiveness and reverse the burden of proof. When the unbeliever recognizes the cracks in their worldview, they are more open to replacing it. |
Witnessing and Evangelism 8 | Oct 30, 16 |
Remembering the Rescue of the Lost Battalion after the Attack of Pearl Harbor. Hearing Questions continued. Listening for discrepancies between belief vs heart longing, belief vs behavior, belief vs belief, and belief vs illogical belief. All people, regardless of religion, share the same sense that there is a God and a desire to know Him. Materialism and success cannot fulfill the longing of the soul. |
Witnessing and Evangelism 7 | Oct 23, 16 |
The Role of God the Holy Spirit in Witnessing. Principles on Evangelism: Our Attitude. Listening for Discrepancies Between an Unbeliever's Worldview and their Heart Longing. We should not feel pressured to produce results when witnessing; ultimately G/HS does the work. We are God's instruments empowered by G/HS and we should truly desire to reach the lost. |
Witnessing and Evangelism 6 | Oct 16, 16 |
The Goals of Asking Questions and 8 Steps of Personal Evangelism. Rather than forcing the truth on an unbeliever, the aim is to use questions, which allow them to discover contradictions in their thinking. Once we understand their perspective and uncover their barriers to belief, we can build a bridge to the Gospel. |
Witnessing and Evangelism 5 | Oct 9, 16 |
The process of personal evangelism and principles from Jn 4:4ff. As Jesus did with the woman at the well, we want to ask non-threatening questions that lead others to the truth, allowing them to surface uncertainties of their perspective. Passages covered where Jesus taught and answered questions with questions. |
Witnessing and Evangelism 4 | Oct 2, 16 |
Reasons why witnessing & evangelism are important to believers and personal evangelism reviewed. Strategies for personal evangelism, and planning & preparation discussed. Asking questions to the unbeliever can help them see their need and build a bridge to the truth. |
Witnessing and Evangelism 3 | Sep 25, 16 |
Do we need to have a gift for evangelism in order do it? God gives us the information and opportunity for witnessing; we simply need to be prepared to guide the conversation to spiritual matters. Personal evangelism means that we care for others' eternal future. It is often a process, not just reaping. |
Witnessing and Evangelism 2 | Sep 18, 16 |
Constitution Day remembered. Passages covered on our witnessing responsibilities; 1 Cor 6:18ff; 2 Cor 5:14ff. We belong to the Lord and as His bondservants we should seek to be obedient. Believers have been designated as Christ's ambassadors with a message of reconciliation. |
Witnessing and Evangelism 1 | Sep 11, 16 |
Christ's mission to seek and save the lost is a responsibility passed onto Church Age believers. Giving the gospel to a stranger is one of the purest forms of impersonal love and something we should desire to do. Jn 4:5-15. Jesus starts a conversation in a culturally unacceptable situation with a woman at the well. |

Angelic Conflict 12 | Mar 27, 16 |
Jn 12:31; 2 Cor 4:4. As ruler of this world, Satan implements strategies to deceive, distract, and mislead—believer and unbeliever alike. If we are not careful to transform our thinking, we will be passively influenced and conformed to the world. As believers what is our protection against assault from the cosmic system? The application of God's Word and G/HS is our sole defense. |
Angelic Conflict 11 | Mar 20, 16 |
History of the Angelic Conflict. Isaiah 14:12ff and Ezekiel 28:11ff—are these descriptions of a man or Lucifer? Created as the most powerful angel and beautiful in appearance, Lucifer became narcissistic and challenged divine authority. Joining his rebellion was a third of the angels, who consequently were condemned to the lake of fire. Masterful in deception, Satan's plan is to oppose God by deceiving the human race. |
Angelic Conflict 10 | Mar 13, 16 |
Dan 10:10-13. Book critique of Christian author, Frank Peretti. In addressing the angelic conflict, Peretti misrepresents Biblical teaching and utilizes anecdotal theology. Angels are humanized, demons confused with works of the flesh, and angels act independently of God. The NT epistles do not instruct believers to take a direct approach to demonic warfare, rather we are to hold our ground. |
Angelic Conflict 9 | Mar 6, 16 |
Mt 10:1-8; Acts 19:11-16. Demon Possession & Influence. What about exorcism today; can we cast out demons? The NT epistles address demons extensively but nowhere are we told to cast them out. Should we be praying for the elect angels to prevail over the fallen demonic forces, as in Dan 10:12? God can answer our prayers through the angelic conflict and the use of angels. |
Angelic Conflict 8 | Feb 28, 16 |
Rom 8:31-39. Demon Possession & Influence. Although we don't know what activities demons might use in the Church Age, we do know much can go wrong simply because we live in a fallen world. Distinguishing between Greek prepositions used for "into" and "cast out". What about demon influence today? Casting out demons was a temporary apostolic gift given to establish the Church Age. |
Angelic Conflict 7 | Feb 21, 16 |
NT passages referencing the fallen angels of Gen 6 which attacked the purity of the human race. We learn that these demons are being held in Tartarus until the day of judgment and that the Lord gave His victorious proclamation to them (Jude 6; 2 Pet 2:4). Questions answered: Do angels have the freedom to act on their own volition? What about appearances of angels today? |
Angelic Conflict 6 | Feb 14, 16 |
When did God create the angels? Was it during creation week or before? According to Job 38:4-7 the angels ("morning stars" & "sons of God") sang for joy in response to the earth's creation. If angels do not have sexuality what about Gen 6 and the sons of God having sex? Though angels do not possess sexuality, they can take on human form. |
Angelic Conflict 5 | Feb 7, 16 |
Jesus confirms the existence of angels. The parable of the wheat and tares (Mt 13:36-43), shows that angels can distinguish between believers and unbelievers; the latter whom the angels will remove from the earth at the end of the Tribulation. What does it mean to "take up our cross" (Mt 16:24-27)? Living life on our terms will never bring more than temporary security and stability. |
Angelic Conflict 4 | Jan 31, 16 |
Study of Angels continued. Can angels reproduce? Do they ever die? Angels have powers and authority from God to carry out their responsibilities. They are sent to protect believers and assist at the moment of death as they enter eternity. Prayer, Bible reading and renewing your spiritual life challenge. |
Angelic Conflict 3 | Jan 31, 16 |
Points & Passages on Angels continued. God does not provide salvation for angels. They live in heaven, have regular access to earth, and interact with humans. Serving as intercessors between God and mankind, angels teach, administer justice, and minister to both nations and individuals. |
Angelic Conflict 2 | Jan 17, 16 |
What does the Bible teach us about angels? These spirit beings, often represented by fire, may be invisible to us but are always there. Not only do these highly intelligent creatures continually observe us, they also serve as our attendants—protecting and guarding us. Highly intelligent and innumerable, their main purpose is to serve God. |
Angelic Conflict 1 | Jan 10, 16 |
Intro into the Angelic Realm. The human race is engulfed in a great unseen war—a universal conflict comprised of elect angels following God's plan, and fallen angels carrying out the bidding of Satan. G/HS helps us in our battle and restrains the activity of Satan. |

Marriage Special 10 | Sep 27, 15 |
Rom 5:1-5. Are you happy in life? Basing your happiness on people, circumstances, or events enslaves you to those things and produces emotional instability. The basis for happiness in marriage is each spouse's relationship with the Lord. Both the husband and wife needs to prioritize and encourage the other's spiritual life, which assists them in accomplishing their divinely designed purpose. The results will have an eternal impact. |
Marriage Special 9 | Sep 13, 15 |
What is the "great mystery" that Paul spoke of in Eph 5:32? Unknown in previous dispensations is the intimate relationship between Christ and the church, and its example for marriage. The man's role of Christ-like love for his wife is decisive for marital success. He is to honor her (1 Pet 3:7), incorporate her into his life, and esteem her highest in his priorities. As love is what the soul of a woman needs, so respect is what the soul of a man needs. He is designed as the initiator in the relationship; she as the responder. |
Marriage Special 8 | Sep 6, 15 |
Communion. Who in government has the right to change laws? According to the US Constitution does the Supreme Court have authority to write, overturn, or amend law? The business of defining marriage belongs exclusively to the States (see 10th Amendment). Eph 5:22-33. When the man and woman become one in marriage, they take up new loyalties, plans, and objectives as a new family unit. They are to work as one with common goals and purposes to accomplish the new destiny for them. |
Marriage Special 7 | Aug 30, 15 |
Update on CEF Good News Clubs. Paul's Guidance to Husbands: Eph 5:28-33. In the same way that a husband is concerned about his own body, he is obligated to virtuously love his wife, which is something that is as natural to him as loving himself. Because woman was made from man (Gen 2:21f), he has an affinity for her and she is integral to him. The union of marriage is the woman retuning to the man where once again they are one. As Christ loves believers because we are members of His body, so the husband should love his wife because she is a component of his body. |
Marriage Special 6 | Aug 23, 15 |
Principles on Marriage Reviewed & Expanded: Eph 5:22-33. If we do not understand how children fit into God's plan, marriage loses its significance. The man, as leader of the marriage, is responsible for the spiritual condition of the relationship. The wife's model for submitting to her husband is her submission to the Lord; it is not based on the man's character. Likewise, the man's love for his wife is not based on her submission or character, but how Christ loved the church. The husband is to seek the highest and best for his wife, placing her welfare ahead of his own. |
Marriage Special 5 | Aug 16, 15 |
Summary Principles from Genesis 1 & 2. God designed the man to be incomplete without the woman; their differences are meant to be complimentary and corresponding, not divisive. The Godly Approach to Marriage (Eph 5:22-33). God has established the husband as the head of the wife; she is to voluntarily submit to him in everything, just as she submits to the Lord. The husband is to love his wife sacrificially and unconditionally, emulating Christ's love for the church. This, in turn, facilitates her ability to be his complement, which benefits him. |
Marriage Special 4 | Jul 19, 15 |
Does the Bible say anything about Same-Sex Marriage? Do you know all of the divine ramifications of the original creative design of marriage? Do you have a solid working definition of marriage and the purposes of marriage? This message is a continuation of a study of Genesis 1 and 2 which teaches God's creative design for marriage. |
Marriage Special 3 | Jul 12, 15 |
To be of value the Bible must be understood literally; so too, the Constitution and founding documents are to be taken literally. Acceptance of the homosexual agenda is a spiritual challenge that will destroy the believer's norms and standards. The divine design and blessing is procreation through a man and woman. Woman alone was made out of man and was created to be his helpmate (Gen 2:18-24). Shortened lesson due to guest speaker. |
Marriage Special 2 | Jul 5, 15 |
What happens when Supreme Court judges overlook the written law and legal precedence? Quotes from presidents and the legislative branch affirm America as a Christian nation. Today, however, a segment of society wants to justify their sins through legislation. What caused this change? We traded the Judeo-Christian worldview, with its understanding of human depravity, for psychotherapy and humanism touting the belief that man is inherently good. Truth shifted from absolute to relevant, and with the change in values came the change of norms. |
Marriage Special 1 | Jun 28, 15 |
On June 26th, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that same sex couples have a right to marry nationwide. Is the Left asking us to tolerate this, or to support it as acceptable? Scientific studies conclude that homosexuality is not determined by genes and transgenderism is considered a mental disorder. Statements from former Supreme Court justices and the 13 colonies' state constitutions, affirming the US was founded as a Christian nation. |
